Wyke U11’s were defeated again in Division 1, this time losing 5-1.

The weather was terrible just before kick off, and with players missing at kick off, the defence was a bit mismatched. Wyke started reasonably well, and the game was well matched. However the defence struggled a little, against the 3 strikers that Hepworth had. They had at least 4 or 5 chances before they scored, Joe McLoughlin was playing very well in goals, and was quick off his line to pick up the loose ball. Louis was taken off injured, as he was unwell, and the back four was changed to Jake, Owen, Tai and Dom Magee. The defence started to play well together, and Hepworth were caught offside on quite a few occasions. For the first time this season, Tai and Owen were linking up brilliantly, and Hepworth couldn’t break through them.

Wyke had a couple of chances in the first half. A couple of scrappy goal line clearances denied Wyke 2 goals, and Daniel McGregor had a good chance saved.

Half time 1-0.

The second half saw another tight affair. Although Hepworth had slightly more chances, Wyke still attacked well. Tai Pedder was taken off midway through the second half, after a knock in the first half. He had battled on and put in his best performance of the season. The defence didn’t hold up as well after Tai went off, however, Joe McLoughlin was quick off his line, and anything which got through the defence, was cleared up by him. Wyke were punished by 3 excellent corners, which were not dealt with. Credit to Hepworth for them, however Wyke should have attacked the ball instead of watching it, and Wyke were now trailing 4-0.

Wyke did score a consolation goal, Reece McIlvenny scored a long range effort into the bottom corner, However Hepworth scored again late on, to pick up the 3 points with a 5-1 win.

Man of the Match: Tai Pedder, Tai put in his best performance this season, he was strong into tackles, and quick to get in challenges, he linked up with Owen very well.

Other Key Players: Joe Mac, Joe was close to getting Man of Match, he put in a fine performance, and was great at coming out of his area to pick up the loose balls. Owen Hanson linked up well with Tai Pedder, and they played well together.

Goals: Reece McIlvenny
