The Under 11’s suffered their biggest defeat of the season, getting hammered at home to Linthwaite. The final score was 7-1.

Wyke started fairly well in the first half. Although Linthwaite had much of the action, Wyke seemed to cope with their attacks. After 20 minutes, however a slight mistake in the defence led to a Linthwaite goal, and then another straight after. 2-0.
5 minutes later Linthwaite scored again, and Wyke were now trailing 3-0. Jack Lamch had a shot hit the cross bar just before half time.

Wyke had played fairly well, in the first half and were really unlucky to be 3-0 down.
However the second half wasn’t anywhere near as positive. The teams structure fell apart, and the defence stopped marking, and were not playing together. Linthwaite put more men forwards, because Wyke made very little attacking chances, and most of the game was again in Wyke’s half. Joe McLoughlin in goals did his best to stop any more goals going in, however Wyke couldn’t handle the pressure. Dom Pickersgill struggled to adapt to centre defence, Owen put in a good performance, but couldn’t do it all himself.

Wyke did score a goal. Ashton Towler, who wasn’t in the game at all today, managed to score a goal 10 minutes before time, but Linthwaite scored another 3 goals, to finish the game 7-1.
Manager Comments
This was another disappointing performance. The first half we played very well and we didn’t deserve to be losing, but we lost shape in the 2nd half. We didn’t play as a team, and we give the ball away too easily.

Man of the Match: Dom Magee played well at left back today. 100% effort from the lad.
